That is possible to do but you need to use the Arturia software to switch the "mode" of the device from it's "specialized" mode into a generic "MIDI" mode. It sounds like you are trying to re-purpose this specialized controller instead to work as a generic drum pad. Probably when using that software you are using it more like a sequencer to "enable" and "disable" drum hits on a pattern. It's setup for controlling that software. The equipment you bought is a specialized controller for the Arturia Spark software. OK I think you just need to spend some more time reading the manual for your equipment and understanding what you bought and what you want and what you are trying to do.
